Funding our Work

One of the most important reasons for our involvement in the work of the National Institutions is to secure funding for Reform, Progressive and Liberal Judaism in Israel and around the world. We believe that just as our predecessors financially contributed to the Zionist Dream and we continue to do so to this day, our movement in Israel and around the world is entitled to benefit from the funds of the Zionist Movement.

The Israel Movement for Reform and Progressive Judaism and the World Union for Progressive Judaism both depend on the money received from the World Zionist Organization, the Jewish Agency and Keren Kayemeth Leyisrael, which provides secure funding to support their core activities. Whether it is shlichim for our youth movements around the world, direct funding for Israeli Reform congregation through the streams budget, support for our rabbinic program in Israel, or grants to Reform Kibbutzim, the Reform Mechina or for Reform synagogue building projects in Israel – the Reform movement currently receives more than $2 million annually in direct funding from the Zionist movement and if we can achieve a stronger representation through the elections to the 2020 World Zionist Congress this funding will increase significantly allowing us to have an even greater impact.
